The Academic Excellence & Distance Learning Department was established and charged with developing a faculty development center. The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning held a Grand Opening in June of 2013, unveiling the newly-remodeled facility for professional development and innovative instruction. |
2013 |
Strategies for Successful Teaching and Learning was launched in the fall to provide all faculty members, new and old, with a foundation for success. The 13-week course, which is offered annually, explores strategies to promote success in curriculum design, teaching methodologies, assessment and educational technology to increase student engagement. Participants apply the discussions and readings to their own practices and produce relevant course materials for review and feedback. The course meets twice a week in The Center. |
2014 |
The Center received national recognition as a 2014 Exemplary Teaching and Learning Center at the International Conference on Teaching and Learning in March. |

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning website was launched providing faculty and staff another avenue for accessing information. |
2016 |
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning welcomed its new director, David Files. David comes to The Center with 25+ years of experience in teaching, professional development, and distance learning. |
2020 |
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning welcomed its new director, Dominic Christison. Dominic comes to The Center with 20+ years of experience in teaching, professional development, and distance learning. |
