The Bachelor of Technology in Information Technologies - Software Development option prepares students for the highly specialized work of designing, developing, documenting, testing, implementing and maintaining computer, database and web applications.

Employment/Placement Demand

Employment of software developers is projected to grow 24 percent from 2016 to 2026. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the need for new applications on mobile devices and tablets will help increase the demand for application software developers. In addition, the health and medical insurance and reinsurance carriers industry will need innovative software to manage new healthcare policy enrollments and administer existing policies digitally.

Currently there are over 1.1 million positions nationwide and growing with typical starting salaries ranging from $55,000 - $100,000 per year.

Admissions Requirements

Consideration for admission to the Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology program is based on the following requirements:

Both the Application for BT and the Background R&R form should be submitted to the School of Creative & Information Technologies the last semester of the student's AAS or the semester prior to beginning the BT in IT if an AAS or higher degree is already held.
