School of Information Technologies student Corbin Allen.

Where are you from?

I am from Cleveland, Oklahoma.

What school and program are you enrolled in?

I am enrolled in the School of Information Technologies and I am currently working on my Associate in Applied Science.

Why did you want to come to OSUIT?

At first, I was not planning on attending any college when I graduated from my technical school. However, during my first year of technical school, I got the opportunity to visit OSUIT during a Business Professionals of America Conference. I was definitely impressed with what I saw and kept the school in the back of my mind during the rest of my high school and technical school career. At the end of my senior year, OSUIT awarded me with a tuition waiver that would finally make me decide if I wanted to go to college or enter the information technology field. I talked to my tech school instructors about it and upon learning they were attending the institution I could not resist going to OSUIT.

What’s been the best thing about being a student here?

One of the best parts of being a student here is the awesome staff and professors. Anytime I have a question about something on campus or if I have a last minute homework question I know I can go to someone and get help. That is something that I feel puts OSUIT apart from other schools and universities. Another great thing about OSUIT is the student clubs. During my first semester, I always felt welcomed by the clubs and their officers. Eventually, I would join Association of Information Technology Professionals and become their vice-president and then their president. I have very much enjoyed my time with the club and hope to serve the club until I graduate. Last semester the School of Information Technology employed me and it has made my time here even more awesome.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus would have to be the Information Technologies building where I learn and work. I spend most of my days there and it feels like a home away from home.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending OSUIT?

I have a few friends from my technology school coming this fall, and I gave them some great advice. I told them to go to the website and find the number for the school they were thinking about attending. I then told them to call the school and ask them all the questions they might have about the school itself and the program they were going to study. They are very excited about information technology and they plan to tell all of their underclassmen about the school.
