OSU Institute of Technology (OSUIT) is proud to announce that MOPAR program student Cameron Stanton has been named the first recipient of the esteemed Jeep/ICON scholarship.
In partnership with Stellantis and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), this scholarship is designed to support Native American students pursuing careers as automotive service technicians. Valued at up to $20,000, the Jeep/ICON scholarship will cover Stanton’s tuition and essential tools for OSUIT’s two-year School of Transportation and Heavy Equipment program, reinforcing OSUIT’s commitment to hands-on, industry-aligned polytechnic education.
“I am honored to be the first student awarded this scholarship,” Stanton said. “It will be nice to focus on my studies and secure the tools I need to become a successful technician.”
Stellantis, a global automaker and mobility tech company, launched the scholarship in collaboration with AISES to promote STEM careers among Indigenous communities in the U.S. and Canada.
The MOPAR Career Automotive Program (CAP) at OSUIT trains a highly skilled workforce to work on some of the industry’s most advanced vehicles, both on and off the road. With over 9,000 students enrolled nationwide, the program prepares students for successful careers in the automotive field, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the industry will require an average of 67,700 auto service technicians annually through 2032.
As OSUIT and OSU Polytech continue to build pathways for student success, partnerships like the Jeep/ICON scholarship play a vital role in supporting the next generation of automotive technicians.
