Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology’s Associate in Applied Science in Nursing degree offers a hands-on learning approach to prepare students for entry-level nursing roles. Through rigorous training, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and embark on a meaningful nursing career.
To accommodate diverse student needs, OSUIT offers two pathways to becoming a registered nurse within the associate degree in Nursing program—the traditional RN track for those without previous clinical experience and the transitional LPN to RN track for licensed practical nurses.
Associate Degree in Nursing Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the associate degree in Nursing (ADN) program and NCLEX-RN exam, you are able to work as a registered nurse with the following competencies:

ADN Program Curriculum
The associate degree in Nursing program curriculum includes a total of 72 credit hours of study. Students are required to complete 33 credit hours of general education and 39 credit hours of nursing required courses. Full-time nursing students can complete the Associate in Nursing program in one to two years. However, the length of the program may vary based on previous education. You may transfer up to 57 previously earned credits to expedite your graduation.

LPN to RN Track
For Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who want to obtain their RN license, our ADN program offers an LPN to RN Transition Track. LPN to RN students can receive 16 credits upon successful completion of the LPN - RN transition course, which can substitute for the NURS 1128 Foundations of Nursing, NURS 1322 Nursing Dosage Calculation, and NURS 1229 Nursing Care of Families.

Registered Nurses Career Outlook
By completing the Associate in Applied Science in Nursing program, you are well prepared to take the NCLEX-RN exam. After passing the exam, you are eligible for numerous employment opportunities as a registered nurse. As an RN, you are accountable to think critically, collaborate with and advocate for patients, and participate in the improvement of healthcare systems.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nurses’ national median annual salary is $75,330, and the employment
of registered nurses will increase 7% through 2029. You may pursue job opportunities
in hospitals, physician’s offices, community clinics, and schools—all with excellent
salary potential.
