Natural Gas Compression Facilities

A first of its kind, the 23,920 square foot Chesapeake Energy Natural Gas Compression Training Center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, machinery and tools so students are ready to work in the natural gas industry right after graduating with an Associate in Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance - Natural Gas Compression.

Students in the Natural Gas Compression program, as well as incumbent workers in the industry, utilize the training center to learn how to better diagnose, service and maintain natural gas compression equipment. The facility also gives students a more realistic experience when it comes to the maintenance and operations of natural gas engines and gas compressor units.

The Chesapeake Energy Natural Gas Compression Training Center features classrooms equipped with SMART Boards and areas dedicated to practical skills training.

Beyond the classroom, the center will also be available to upgrade the skills and abilities of those already in the workforce. The conference rooms allows OSU Institute of Technology to host seminars and workshops related to the natural gas industry.

One of the most impressive features of the new building, and one that’s hard to miss, is the dual rail overhead cranes, each with a 30-ton capacity, that allow the safe lifting and maneuvering of compression skids.

Natural Gas Compression training has been a part of OSU Institute of Technology’s curriculum since 1979, but in 2000 it became an independent program.
