Mike Stacy

Mike Stacy worked 14 years with East Central Electric COOP in Okmulgee. He worked first as a contractor and eventually moved up as an office service clerk and material accountant. Stacy also served 7.5 years as a power lineman with ECE. 

After suffering a career ending neck injury, Stacy owned and operated a convenience store and restaurant. He then went into maintenance management for 10 years in the industrial/commercial world serving as supervisor over a number of crews. The summer of 2011, before beginning his career at OSUIT, Stacy was a jeep safari guide in Alaska. He encountered many grizzly bears, mountain goats and many other wildlife and was able to see the beautiful picturesque lands of Alaska.

Stacy joined the High Voltage Line Technician faculty at OSUIT in 2012. He teaches Pole Climbing, Intro to High Voltage Line Technician and is the Internship Coordinator for all of the high voltage internships.

 


Pete Salter

Pete Salter joined the US Air Force in 1986, where he worked as a crew chief and serve time in the Gulf War. After the war, he became an Electrical Power Lineman and retired after 20 years.  In 2007, Salter went to work for Larverne Electric as the lead lineman. In 2013, he relocated to Prague as the electrical foreman and retired in 2017. Salter joined the High Voltage Line Technician faculty at OSUIT in October 2018.


Wendell Williams

Wendell Williams started work in high voltage at East Central Electric Cooperative in Okmulgee in 1982 as apprentice lineman. He worked on the line crew construction, then moved to Okemah, Oklahoma, and worked in the service area. He worked as maintenance serviceman, while completing his apprenticeship to become a journeyman lineman (which he achieved in 1985). Williams worked the service area around Okemah for 11 years then moved in 1992 back to Okmulgee and worked the construction line crew at East Central Electric until leaving in 2000. He worked with Okfuskee County and Muscogee Creek Nation operating heavy equipment until leaving to come back into the high voltage field in May 2019 at OSUIT.


Barton Pettit

Barton Pettit joined the OSUIT High Voltage Line Technician faculty in fall 2017.  He brought with him almost 40 years of experience in the high voltage line technician field.  He began his line working career with OG&E in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, in October 1978.  He worked the next 12 years with Kiwash Electric Cooperative in Cordell, Oklahoma.  In 1991, he worked for PSO in Lawton, Oklahoma, and went through their apprenticeship program and topped out in 1992.  He worked for PSO for six years. In 1997, he moved to California to work for PG&E. He worked for the company for five years in General Construction as a journeyman lineman and subforeman and then three and a half years as a division lineman and compliance inspector.  In 2005, he moved to Plainview, Texas, to work for Lighthouse Electric Coop as an area serviceman.  In 2007, he moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, to work for OG&E until coming to OSUIT.
