Course Evaluations
OSUIT uses a homegrown question set for course evaluations. Evaluations are distributed and reported using the SmartEvals system.
The OSUIT Tech To-Go program offers computers, laptops, and hotspots that students can checkout and use
to complete their course evaluations.

Students
Students will receive an email to their Cowboy Email account with a link to access their course evaluations, along with text (SMS) reminders during the evaluation period. Click the link and log in using your OKEY credentials.
You can also access your course evaluations directly through your Canvas courses by clicking on the OSUIT Evaluations & Surveys tab. Here you’ll see a list of your courses available for evaluation as well as those
that have been completed. Select each course and complete the evaluation for every
class.
Course evaluations are open during designated administration periods each term, and reminder emails will continue until all your evaluations are complete.
Faculty
Before Evaluations Begin
Two weeks prior to the start of each course evaluation administration, faculty will
receive an email notification at their OKSTATE email. This message includes a link to their custom dashboard, where they can view all upcoming evaluations for the relevant sub-academic period.
Faculty should log in using their OKEY credentials and confirm that all courses for the term are listed.
Prior to the beginning of evaluations is the time to set up or enable extra credit assignments in Canvas or within SmartEvals, if applicable.
During the Evaluation Period
Faculty are encouraged to engage students by setting up automated email reminders and thank-you messages in SmartEvals. While evaluations are open, additional direct messages can be sent to students who have not yet completed their surveys. Faculty will receive
reminder emails throughout the evaluation window, and Canvas announcements may be
posted periodically.
Response Rate Goals
The university’s benchmark response rate is 65% overall.
After Evaluations Close
At the end of the full 16-week term, faculty will automatically gain access to their
course evaluation reports. These reports should be reviewed for opportunities for continuous improvement in
teaching and learning. Then, faculty will be prompted to complete the End-of-Term Faculty Course Evaluation Reflection Survey for each department in which they taught during the term. This survey documents engagement
with evaluation feedback for ongoing improvement.
