The incumbent ensures the stability and integrity of in-house electronic access control and monitoring systems. In addition, the incumbent performs change management and configuration activities, security controls testing, system baseline activities, vulnerability testing and analysis, and network traffic analysis to ensure system reliability and security. The incumbent participates in in-house, regulatory, and industry teams including working groups, committees, incident response teams, and business continuity teams as required. Also, the incumbent participates in exercises that test policies, procedures, and skills which are required by business and critical operations. The incumbent responds to anomalous events that will require analysis and will have to synthesize and correlate complex events to ensure operational security.

The technician is responsible for the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of voice, video, and data consisting of copper and fiber-optic cabling for inside and outside cable plants. The Structured Cabling Technician is expected to work to and adhere to proper customer installation guidelines and industry standards. In addition, they are to Maintain compliance with Quality Assurance standards as well as ensuring service performance indicators are met or exceeded.


What You’ll Get to Do


• Must have the ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables. Strong understanding of low-voltage infrastructure and related services.
• Installation from outlets to distribution point, pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables to industry and Client standards
• Perform work in renovations and new construction environments and implement cut-over.
• Update documentation of all network cabling configuration upgrades, additions, or revisions after implementation.
• Use various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware as well as termination and testing procedures used on a day-to-day basis.


More About the Role


• Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts, and Ladders, reach overhead, and kneel for long periods.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read blueprints and architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
• Use hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools such as hammer drills and saws.

Essential Job Functions:

8+ years’ experience working in a Central Office Environment including lacing and stitching. Deep understanding of fiber installation standards and procedures. DC Power cabling experience (hot work in BDFB highly desirable), cable testing (fiber, copper, coax) experience, prior experience successfully leading installations, read and follow Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment, and wiring documentation. Familiarity with the Telcordia and TP76300 installation standards. Responsible for the accuracy of all documentation as required. Experience with completing quality assurance procedures and checking the final product for errors. Must be able to work a variety of shifts and travel extensively (road warriors needed).

  • Equivalent proficiency, as determined by the Installation Supplier.

 

Central Office Technician Level 3

  • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience, or equivalent as determined by the Installation supplier and demonstrated in the equipment system/environment (e.g. common systems, switch, transport, power) being worked on

  • Be capable of performing the following work operations/job activities without supervision

    • Addition or removal of common systems equipment/hardware

    • Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non- working equipment only)

    • Lead verification

    • Analysis of job specifications and drawings

    • Provide work assignments to crew

    • Prepare the forms associated with the install

    • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems

    • Correct office record drawings

    • In-process and final quality inspections

    • Able to communicate with customer on all aspects of the job throughout the duration of the job

    • Be capable of performing as the Installation Supplier's in-charge person on jobs not specifically restricted to having a Level 4 person in charge
