Be True to You at OSUIT: Aidin Tucker

Where are you from?

I am from Enid, Oklahoma.

Why did you choose to attend OSUIT?

I chose OSUIT because I am a tradesman at heart. I attended OSU Stillwater a few years ago and I found out that the desk job, white-collar world was not for me.

What is your program and why did you choose it?

I am in the High Voltage Lineman program. I chose this program because of the camaraderie and thrill aspects of the job. I was a diesel mechanic before my wife and I came here, and I love working with my hands. My wife's brother is a journeyman lineman, and I loved the kind of people we spent time with and the overall lineman lifestyle; it didn't take much persuading to get me to change careers.

How can you Be True To You at OSUIT?

Being True to You at OSUIT means to me chasing what I know is the best thing for myself and my family. OSUIT gives me the chance to do that. There are so many program options that anyone seeking to enter into the trades world can find their place at this school.

How will you Be the One They Call?

This question is very applicable to my career field. Anytime there is a storm or natural disaster, linemen are the first people called to brave the weather to make sure that everyone is with power. Rain, hail, ice, or snow, lineman will be in the field making sure that everyone can be safe at home with electricity. Our entire program is meant to make sure that we know how to be safe and knowledgeable in the field when we are in the middle of the worst weather situations.

What would you tell someone about OSUIT?

I would absolutely tell people about OSUIT. I have recommended this school to several people who are unsure whether or not a regular 4 year degree is right for them, and my younger brother will be coming here in the fall.
