Carson Allen Boyle's life was tragically cut short during an accident on September 19, 2022. A promising student at OSU Institute of Technology, Carson was pursuing his passion in high voltage, with aspirations of becoming a line technician.
His passing left his loved ones and the OSUIT community reeling; however, out of the darkness of this tragedy emerges hope and generosity in the form of the Carson Boyle Memorial Award.
Born to Laresa and Allen Boyle on August 4, 2003, Carson embraced each day with enthusiasm for life and adventure. His love for the natural world blossomed over the years, fostering deep connections with friends and family who shared his interests. Whether duck hunting, enjoying the peacefulness of the lake, playing games like sand volleyball and table pool, Carson's personality charmed all who knew him, ensuring that he lived a lifetime of experiences in his 19 years.
“Carson lived each day with an unmatched zest for life, and his dedication to his studies was truly admirable. From his early days hunting and fishing to his time at OSUIT pursuing his degree in high voltage, he approached every moment with a sense of adventure and purpose,” said Laresa Boyle.
The Carson Boyle Memorial Scholarship, created fall of 2023, provides $500 in financial assistance to a first-semester student enrolled in the high-voltage line technician program selected by the School of Engineering & Construction Technologies. The funds are designed to offset expenses associated with acquiring lineman tools—a significant investment for students entering this field.
Each year, Carson’s family and friends host an annual volleyball fundraiser during the first week of August in honor of his birthday. This event is a heartfelt tribute to Carson's life and raises money to help sustain the memorial fund.
Through this initiative, his legacy will continue to inspire and support future generations of high-voltage line technician students at OSUIT.
