In celebration of technical education and career exploration, OSU Institute of Technology rolled out the orange carpet for more than 3,000 Oklahoma high school students and their counselors at this year’s Career Encounters event. The one-day open house provided a hands-on experience in the diverse world of OSUIT’s technical programs.
Career Encounters is an annual event designed to spark the curiosity of area high school students. Students visited OSUIT’s campus, met with faculty, staff and industry partners, and explored the cutting-edge programs offered by the OSUIT.
“At OSUIT, we embrace the importance of technical education to transform lives and fuel Oklahoma’s workforce and believe in the ability of hands-on learning to prepare our students with the skills necessary for a high-demand, high-paying job in their industry upon graduation. We take pride in empowering our students with these invaluable tools,” said OSUIT President Bill Path.
Throughout the day, attendees immersed themselves in activities ranging from XR demonstrations to pizza baking. These interactive sessions allowed students to dive into the heart of OSUIT’s cutting-edge technical programs, providing valuable insights into potential career paths after high school.
“It gives high school students a chance to learn about the wide array of technical programs offered here at OSUIT and also learn about the different industries, partners and career opportunities that come from completing one of our programs,” explained Jake Murphy, director of prospective student services at OSUIT.
Career Encounters is a testament to OSUIT’s commitment to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and real-world experiences that prepare them for the challenges of entering Oklahoma’s workforce.
