What school and program are you enrolled in?
I am in the Graphic Design Technology program in the School of Visual Communications.
Why did you want to come to OSUIT?
I knew that I wanted to be a graphic designer, and OSUIT’s program produced graduates that were getting hired—that was really attractive to me. I also wanted to get through college without going into debt. Although my training has been top of the line, it has also been affordable, so my goal of graduating debt free will now be a reality.
What’s been the best thing about being a student here?
One of the best things about being a student here is the incredible reputation that OSUIT has. The school’s reputation has gone before me many times, and I am so thankful. As I have been trying to get a job, I have become more aware of OSUIT’s reputation. Company owners, hiring managers and designers have a lot of respect for OSUIT. Another thing that I have loved is the support and training from the faculty. They are passionate about seeing students succeed. Success to them is not if a student scored well on a test, success is knowing that they are ready for life in the industry. I have appreciated the care that they have taken in making sure I am equipped with the right skill sets, work ethic and tools for the industry.
What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending OSUIT?
I would encourage them to take a tour and also find some graduates from the program they are looking into and talk to them. Coming and touring and meeting the faculty that would be teaching my classes solidified my choice in coming to OSUIT. I became excited about OSUIT when I started talking to successful designers that graduated from the Graphic Design Technology program.
