Where are you from?
I lived most of my life in Arkansas and Oklahoma, but grew up moving around with my family as my dad served in the Navy.
What do you do here at OSUIT?
I am the director of Residential Life and chief conduct officer.
Tell me a little about your experience and history with OSUIT?
I have worked here at OSUIT for over a decade. I started out as residence coordinator, RHA advisor, and hearing officer for the university. Then I had the opportunity to become the director of Residential Life and chief conduct officer here at OSUIT. While in these roles, I have greatly enjoyed working with students in various ways like with club activities, updating residence hall common areas, and even helping students through difficult times or tough decisions.
What’s been the best thing about working here?
Getting to know our students that come from all over, and seeing them get a hands-on education. There are people that I went to high school with that if they had known about OSUIT, would have benefitted and felt like there was a college for them because they had hands-on, technical skills.
What’s the new Grand Old Post Office Student Housing like?
It’s a really great experience to have the chance to live in a building that’s over 100 years old. Also, it’s interesting to see how we have blended what existed before with new modern elements and how it has all worked out.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
Well I actually have two favorite spots. The first are the benches around the pond at NCAT. My other favorite spot is the walking bridge on the second floor of the GOPO east light well that looks out of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending or working at OSUIT?
OSUIT is a place where you will have the chance to meet a variety of people from different backgrounds and learn something new every day. From what I have seen, students are going to be getting some of the best training and experience in their chosen field of study while receiving a college degree—not just a certification. If you are coming here to work at OSUIT you are joining a team that comes together using their various strengths to help students become well-trained workers who will be able to contribute positively to any community where they live and work.
