Where are you from?

I am from Watsonville, California, in Santa Cruz County. I also lived in Woodland and Sacramento before I moved to Oklahoma in the sixth grade.

What school and program are you enrolled in?

I enrolled in the School of Visual Communications Graphic Design program at OSUIT because I have always been creative and knew that I wanted to do something with that creativity; that I was going to make a living doing it.

Why did you want to come to OSUIT?

I chose OSUIT because my Tulsa Tech instructor said that it was a great program and that it would be a good learning environment for me, because of the smaller classes. I checked out the website and immediately enrolled.

What’s been the best thing about being a student here?

The best part about being a student at OSUIT is the people here are so nice. I love all of my teachers and I really feel like they want me to succeed and they don’t ever give up on me. One other thing I like are the students on campus that you meet. I know that we don’t have sororities or fraternities on campus but I believe in a way our programs are our sororities and fraternities. Being in Visual Communications is so awesome because I get to be around these artistic people all the time. I have made so many friends, and when new students come in, I feel like the older students try to mentor the freshmen. Everyone is always so encouraging here in Vis Com.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite place to be on campus is the Wilson Commons. I like going there to hang out with my friends or to do homework there. Sometimes I ask other students for their opinions on things that I am working on in class. It’s a cool spot to have random late night movie nights, and it’s kind of the spot to be if you like to socialize.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending OSUIT?

If I was telling someone about OSUIT I would say that this is a great school if you are actually serious about having a career because it is all about training you for real life situations in whatever area you pursue. The work might be tough at times but it’s only because the teachers would rather know that they over prepare you than under prepare you.
