Where are you from?

I am originally from the Mojave Desert -- I was born in Barstow, California, where I lived until I moved to Okmulgee when I was in high school.

What school and program are you enrolled in?

I am a fourth semester nursing student enrolled in the Registered Nursing program in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences.

Why did you want to come to OSUIT?

I wanted to come to OSUIT right out of high school because of the convenience to home and because the small class sizes are very appealing to me. After I graduated from OSUIT with an Associate in Science, I entered the workforce. Eventually I decided I wanted to pursue a degree in health care, and I knew OSUIT was where I wanted to accomplish that goal because of the great experience I had here while earning my previous degree. I came back to OSUIT and earned another Associate in Science before getting accepted into the nursing program.

What’s been the best thing about being a student here?

The best thing about being a student here at OSUIT is the overwhelming support from the faculty and staff campuswide. From my personal experience, being a student in the nursing program, the nursing faculty strives to bring out the best in their students and make it apparent at how much our success means to them.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus, aside from the nursing skills lab where we get to learn all of our nursing skills, would be the walking trails. Early morning walks around the big pond is a great way to start the day.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending OSUIT?

OSUIT has a vast array of degree choices and has an excellent career placement rate upon graduation. Everyone at OSUIT is friendly, and the atmosphere is great. Come see for yourself -- you will not regret it.
