Where are you from?

I am from the small town of Sulphur, Oklahoma.

What school and program are you enrolled in?

I’m scheduled to graduate in April with an Associate in Applied Science in electrical/electronics from the School of Engineering Technologies.

Why did you want to come to OSUIT?

I wanted a school that was serious about my success, but also a college that would remind me of the tight knit community I had back home. I knew the School of Engineering Technologies would be too tough for me to conquer alone. And, I would not be where I am today had it not been for the help and support of instructors and upperclassmen.

What’s been the best thing about being a student here?

The small-town feel is my absolute favorite part of campus. Even by walking into the C-Store at the Wilson Commons, the ladies there greet me with welcoming smiles, waiting to help or offer advice. All of us look out for each other and care about how the other is doing, we make relationships with classmates and professors a priority, and we know overcoming obstacles, mistakes, and not giving up are keys to being successful.

What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending OSUIT?

My advice to those considering OSUIT would be to set goals and don’t forget why you’re here. Your surroundings will give back what you put in. If you are active and working hard towards a set goal, others will follow and can help you achieve them. Most of us are here at OSUIT because we believe we found areas in which we excel. But, any college experience will be what you make it. I hope you choose to make it a successful beginning.
