As the outdoor temperature begins to climb, OSU Institute of Technology is offering fun, free activities for students to enjoy during the summer months.
Student Life invites the OSUIT campus to the latest event, Summer Bash, on Tuesday, June 08, from 6 to 8 p.m. outdoors on the north lawn of Covelle Hall. The free event is open to students, their families and all OSUIT employees. Students and employees will need to bring their student or employee ID to check in to the event.
"We are so excited to welcome students back for events," said Audrie Brennan, Student Life activities coordinator. "While we were happy to adapt and scale down Student Life events to help stop the spread of COVID-19, we're looking forward to making Summer Bash a party and hope to see as many faces as possible out having fun."
This year will feature lawn games like corn hole and horseshoes, light refreshments, music and fun interactive games like Hamster Ball Cross Track and Inflatable Double Axe Throw. A kid-friendly zone with games and a splash pool for children will also be available for those who bring their families.
A few student clubs will also be participating in the event. Phi Theta Kappa will be serving free snow cones, Residence Halls Association is running the Hamster Ball Cross Track game and Student Transitional Development Xtreme is lending their giant checkers and Connect 4 games for the event.
"After the kind of year students have had, trying to navigate daily life in a global pandemic while pursuing their college degrees, they are more than deserving of an evening of fun and entertainment to let their hair down and have some laughs."
Brennan said there are many opportunities for students or employees to volunteer at this event.
"We are looking for a few more volunteers to help set up and tear down the event and to watch over food and games," said Brennan. "Students, faculty and staff are welcome to volunteer."
Additionally, Student Life offers other free events during the summer months: intramural sports, fitness challenges, monthly craft sessions and free massage days.
