OSU Institute of Technology’s Spring Career Fair hosted over 150 students and more than 30 employers on campus for an opportunity to network and discuss career opportunities in their field.
Industry partners were on hand to meet with students trained and skilled in Truck Technician, Engineering & Construction Technologies and Creative & Information Technologies looking to fill an internship requirement or career placement after graduation.
Representatives from Aaon, Oneok, Tulsa Pier Drilling, Interstates, American Implement, The Chickasaw Nation, Schneider Electric and others traveled to Okmulgee to discuss career and internship opportunities available to current students.
Berry Mantooth, maintenance manager at Oneok, has attended the OSUIT Career Fair for seven years.
“I’ve hired many OSUIT graduates,” said Mantooth. “OSUIT students know what they want to do, are trainable, easy to get up to speed and ready to go to work. A unique quality about graduates of OSUIT is that they come with computer skills that others don’t have.”
These events, typically held each semester, allow students to get in front of potential employers and present themselves professionally by showcasing their communication skills with leaders in their industry. Students are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and engage and exchange information with industry representatives.
Peres Kereotubo, a student in the Information Technologies program at OSUIT, attended the Career Fair looking for internship and long-term opportunities.
“I am originally from Nigeria and enjoyed being able to meet with industry leaders in areas in and outside of Oklahoma, said Kereotubo. “Next time, I will have to bring more resumes. I ran out!”
