Students, staff and visitors can expect minimal disruption from a main water line replacement project on campus that will continue through June. Setup has begun along Bennett Drive in front of the university’s daycare building to initiate work eventually running east past Covelle Hall and then north to the Workforce building.
The first phase of this critical upgrade project involves horizontal drilling under street intersections and sidewalks. Ditch excavation will begin after spring graduation but should cause only intermittent sidewalk closures affecting pedestrian traffic. A brief water service interruption is expected in late June during summer break when the new section is activated.
Mark Pitcher, OSUIT Physical Plant director stated, “We appreciate everyone’s understanding while this much needed campus improvement is taking place.”
