Introducing the Zen Den: OSUIT’s New Relaxation Hub on Campus

Amid busy schedules and daily demands, finding time to unwind can feel like a challenge. To help the campus community catch a break, OSUIT’s Counseling Services has introduced the Zen Den—a welcoming new space on campus designed for students, staff, and faculty to relax, recharge, and find a moment of calm.

Located in the Student Union, the Zen Den was thoughtfully created by Kaitlin Rouk, OSUIT’s counselor, as a peaceful escape. From a state-of-the-art massage chair to stress-relieving activities like adult coloring books, stress balls, and aromatherapy dough, the space is designed with relaxation in mind.

“The goal is to give everyone a place where they can take a breather and refocus,” Rouk said. “It’s a simple concept, but it can make a big difference in your day.”

The Zen Den is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, on a first-come, first-served basis. While the massage chair is a major attraction, there’s additional seating for those who want to visit with a friend or simply enjoy the calming atmosphere.

“We know how hectic life can be, so we wanted to create a space where people can take a moment for themselves, relax, and leave feeling better,” Rouk said. “It’s not about fancy equipment—it’s about feeling at ease and ready to tackle whatever comes next.”

The Zen Den is still evolving, with plans for more features, but it’s already open and ready for use. Rouk encourages everyone to stop by, check it out, and spread the word about this new campus resource.
