Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology’s Associate in Applied Science in Applied Technology and supporting degree options facilitate degree completion by Oklahomans who have received an industry recognized credential, have earned previous college-level credit in a technical field, have completed coursework through an Oklahoma CareerTech center approved for transfer of technical college credit, or require cross-disciplinary training to serve a current or emerging industry need not accommodated by existing OSUIT programs.

Program advisement is provided by OSUIT’s Office of Academic Affairs, who works in collaboration with OSUIT faculty and leadership to develop an individualized plan of study that fulfills each student’s unique career goals by combining general education with specific technical knowledge and skills in preparation for employment, career advancement, or entry into OSUIT’s Bachelor of Technology in Applied Technical Leadership program.

Degree Options

Students will enroll in one of the following degree options, as determined by their previous technical training, related industry-recognized credentials, and future career goals:

  • Business & Digital Technologies
  • Health & Human Services
  • Industrial Technologies
  • Transportation Technologies

Students will consult with program advisor for development of an individualized plan of study and guidance on appropriate course selection.

Program Learning Outcomes

In addition to satisfying the institutional core learning outcomes, program graduates will:

  • Know and be able to apply the terminology and conceptual frameworks related to common organizational structures and basic operations in the workplace;
  • Have the technical skills expected of entry-level employees in their field of study; and
  • Demonstrate the professional and ethical behaviors of essential workplace skills.

Students completing this program will have the skill sets most requested by Oklahoma employers and relevant to future occupations and career paths. The courses in the general education core have a Transfer Guarantee between the community colleges and are also transferable to the Research and Regional Universities through the Course Equivalency Project.

This AAS in Applied Technology is for a broad range of potential students, including:

  • Students with previously earned college-level technical credit
  • Individuals in cross-disciplinary industries
  • Individuals with third-party credentials

This degree will allow students to increase their lifetime earnings potential by increasing their level of education attainment by having an associate’s degree, and will also prepare them to pursue advanced studies in a bachelor of technology program.
