We are excited to welcome you to Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology! Whether you're moving to campus for the first time or returning for another trimester, our Residential Life team is committed to making your move-in experience as smooth and welcoming as possible.
Moving into campus housing is an exciting milestone, and we're here to help every step of the way!
Move-In Process

Prepare for Move-In
Before arriving on campus, please make sure you have completed the following:
- Complete your Housing Contract and submit your housing deposit.
- Make sure you are registered for your classes for the semester in order to receive a housing assignment.
- Verify your housing assignment through the Cowboy Housing Portal.
- Review the Resident Handbook and the Student Rights and Responsibilities pages.
- Pay any required university balances that may prevent check-in.
- Continuously check your student email for the latest Move-In Day updates.
- Pack only approved items for your residence hall room.
Before leaving home, be sure you have:
- Your OSUIT Student ID (or government-issued photo ID)
- Medications
- Bedding (Twin XL)
- Toiletries and personal items
- School supplies and
- Any required housing documentation

Arrive on Campus
When you arrive on Move-In Day:
- Follow campus signage directing you to your designated residence hall.
- Park in the designated parking lot area near your building.
- Check in with Residential Life staff before unloading your belongings.
- Present your student ID or a government-issued photo ID.
- Receive your room key and important move-in information.
Residential Life staff and university volunteers will be available throughout the day to answer questions and assist you.

Check Into Your Room
Before settling in:
- Inspect your room carefully.
- Complete your Room Condition Report (RCR) within the required timeframe.
- Report any existing damage immediately through the housing reporting process.
Completing your Room Condition Report helps protect you from being charged for pre-existing damages at the end of your housing assignment.

Unload and Move-In
After receiving your room key:
- Move your belongings into your room.
- Be courteous to other residents by unloading efficiently.
- Once your vehicle has been unloaded, please move it to a campus parking area to allow space for other families.
- Keep your room locked whenever you leave during Move-In Day.

Meet Your Community
Once you've finished moving in:
- Meet your Resident Assistant (RA).
- Introduce yourself to your roommate and neighbors.
- Attend your required hall meeting.
- Explore campus and locate important resources, including dining, academic buildings, Wilson Commons, Student Life, and Campus Safety.
- Participate in Welcome Week activities and campus events.
Your first few days on campus are a great opportunity to build friendships and become familiar with the OSUIT community.
What to Bring
We recommend bringing:
- Twin XL bedding
- Pillow and blankets
- Towels and washcloths
- Toiletries
- Laundry supplies
- Clothing and shoes
- Computer and chargers
- School supplies
- Small fan (optional)
- Mini Fridge
- Microwave
- Decorations that comply with Residential Life policies
What Not to Bring
For the safety of all residents, please do not bring:
- Candles or open-flame devices
- Fireworks
- Halogen lamps
- Space heaters
- Appliances with exposed heating elements (hot plates, George Foreman grills, etc.)
- Pets (except approved service animals or registered Emotional Support Animals)
- Weapons or firearms
- Flammable Liquids
- Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia (All THC and CBD products).

Parking During Move-In
Temporary unloading is permitted near your assigned residence hall during Move-In Day. After unloading your belongings, please move your vehicle to a designated campus parking area so other residents can access the unloading zones.
