Non-Resident Tutition Waiver
Updated November 1, 2024
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN OR ELIGIBLE NON-CITIZEN (Non-eligible citizens should visit www.osuit.edu/admissions/international.php)
Degree-seeking students enrolled in Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Applied Science (AAS), or Bachelor of Technology (BT) programs may be eligible to receive a waiver for the out-of-state portion of their tuition.
Housing Requirement
To receive and/or continue receiving the non-resident tuition waiver, students must reside on campus, except in cases where the student:
- Is 21 years of age or older,
- Is married,
- Has legal custody of a child, or
- Resides out-of-state and is enrolled exclusively in online classes.
Important Note: Out-of-state residency status does not guarantee a tuition waiver. An exemption from Residential Life to live off-campus does not automatically qualify a student for the non-resident tuition waiver if they are otherwise required to live on campus.
Award Notification
Eligible students will be notified of their waiver award through their financial aid award letter or by checking the Banner Portal at my.okstate.edu.
Eligibility and Renewal
Students meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) will automatically qualify for the Non-Resident Tuition Waiver (NONRES) for up to six consecutive terms.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements:
-
Cumulative GPA:
- For 1-30 credit hours earned: Minimum GPA of 1.7 on a 4.0 scale.
- For 31+ credit hours: Minimum GPA of 2.0 for most programs.
- For Information Technology Division (ITD), Engineering Technology Division (ETD), or any BT program: Minimum GPA of 2.5.
-
Completion Rate (PACE):
- Students must successfully complete at least 67% of attempted credit hours.
For more information, please view our Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
Waiver Revocation
The waiver will be revoked if:
- The student no longer meets any exceptions to the on-campus housing requirement.
- The student moves off-campus before completing their degree(s) (if initially required to live on campus).
- The student fails to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Appeal Process
Students who lose eligibility for the non-resident tuition waiver may appeal in writing.
- Appeals should be directed to:
- Scholarships Coordinator
- Grady Clack Building
- Or emailed to: scholarships@okstate.edu
Appeals must outline extenuating circumstances and provide a plan for addressing these issues.
