Where are you from?
I am from Okmulgee.
What do you do here at OSUIT?
I am the manager of the OSUIT Childcare Center.
Tell me a little about your experience with the university so far?
I graduated from OSUIT in 2009, so I was already familiar with the campus when I started working at the childcare center in 2014. My experience here has been awesome! I am fortunate that I get to work with great people, and I love how friendly and helpful the other departments are as well.
What’s been the best thing about working here?
The best part about working at OSUIT is the support our department receives from the students, staff and faculty on campus. It seems like someone is always thinking about our daycare kids. We often receive contributions from several departments including, the Nursing program, the Copy Center, and the students enrolled in the college strategies classes, along with special treats from the Cowboy Cafe staff. We also appreciate it when Phi Theta Kappa comes to the center to read to the children.
What do you wish more people knew about OSUIT and the role you play here?
A lot of people do not realize that there is two star, DHS-licensed childcare center on campus at OSUIT. We often have potential students whose enrollment into college is contingent upon finding safe, affordable childcare. We offer a limited number of spots, and it’s important to make arrangements in advance so that we may accommodate as many children as possible.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the walking trail near the pond.
What would you tell someone who was thinking about attending or working at OSUIT?
I often encourage people to attend classes at OSUIT. My work experience at OSUIT has been great, and I would recommend employment to anyone.
