OSUIT Summer Graduation Planned for August 20

OSU Institute of Technology will celebrate the 219th graduating class in Covelle Hall on Friday, August 20, 2021, with ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will include graduates from the School of Creative & Information Technologies and the School of Transportation & Heavy Equipment. The 2 p.m. ceremony will include graduates from the School of Arts, Sciences & Health and the School of Engineering & Construction Technologies.

“We are pleased to welcome friends and families of our graduates back to campus for this occasion,” said OSUIT President Bill R. Path. “To help protect the safety of our campus community, we strongly encourage the use of masks for everyone during these ceremonies. This modification allows our graduates to walk across the stage and acknowledge their great achievement and time spent at OSUIT while keeping safety a priority.”

While the OSUIT campus no longer requires the use of masks, to reduce the risk of being infected with the Delta variant and possibly spreading it to others, and in keeping with recently updated CDC guidance, OSUIT encourages the use of masks indoors in public, especially in situations in which social distancing is not possible and for activities with close contact with others. The CDC encourages the use of masks and social distancing even if you are fully vaccinated. Please consider using a mask or facial covering upon entering Covelle Hall for this event.

You might choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission if you have a weakened immune system or if, because of your age or an underlying medical condition, you are at increased risk for severe disease, or if a member of your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is unvaccinated.

Limited disposable masks will be available for attendees at the entrance.

Some modifications to the ceremonies, including contactless options, will continue to be integrated into the overall experience to minimize infection exposure.

To keep loved ones connected who are unable to attend, the commencement ceremonies will be streamed live to the OSUIT Facebook page and made available for on-demand viewing on OState.TV and the OSUIT website.

OSUIT’s Institutional Event Planning Committee, in coordination with the Pandemic Response Team, is meeting regularly to monitor and assess the situation in accordance with local and national health guidance.
