OSU Institute of Technology’s Bachelor of Technology in Applied Technical Leadership (ATL) is a fully online, accelerated baccalaureate degree program that prepares you to develop, lead, and manage current and emerging technologies, technical professionals, and related processes. The Applied Technical Leadership bachelor’s program was created in response to the demand for individuals with the technical, leadership, and management skills to successfully fulfill leadership positions. The BT-ATL program is 100% online and it provides you with the flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule. All the courses and learning materials can be easily accessed through our online learning center. Wherever you are, whenever it is, you can study at your own pace.
The ATL program puts an emphasis on real-world experience.This program utilizes prior learning assessment (PLA) which allows students to use work experience and certifications for course credit. Taught by instructors with extensive experience in the field, the program provides current best practices based on industry standards. In this program you can harness your leadership and management skills to advance in your profession and/or industry.
Building on your Applied Associate degree and industry experience, the ATL program allows you to transfer your qualified course credits or industry experience/certifications to graduate faster and save thousands on tuition. With credits transferred from your associate degree, you could earn the BT-ATL degree in as little as two years.

The Applied Technical Leadership program requires students to complete a total of 120 credit hours to graduate. However, being an accelerated program for students who have earned an applied associate degree, the ATL program allows students to transfer the credits from their applied associate programs to fulfill some of the requirements.
Initially, students start the program with 40 credit hours of general education and 4 credit hours of interdepartmental requirements to lay a foundation for their further study in the field of technical leadership. Upon completion of the general education courses, students then continue to take 76 credit hours of technical requirements and specialty electives of the BT in Applied Technical Leadership.
