All students must meet the criteria for both the high school curricular requirements and the high school performance requirements as defined by OSRHE. The following high school curricular requirements have been established for students seeking admission to Oklahoma colleges and universities:

The 15 units of high school course work required for college admission to public colleges and universities in the State System. The following high school curricular requirements have been established for students seeking admission to Oklahoma colleges and universities. These include:

• 4 units of English (Grammar, Composition, Literature)
• 3 units of Mathematics (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Math Analysis, Calculus, Advanced Placement Statistics)
• 3 units of Laboratory Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or any lab science certified by the school district; General Science with or without a lab may not be used to meet this requirement.)
• 3 units of History and Citizenship Skills (including 1 unit of American History and 2 additional units for subjects of History, Economics, Geography, Government, Non-Western Culture)
• 2 additional units of courses that fit into one of the categories above or foreign language or computer science

The admission policies of OSU Institute of Technology are those approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education on Admission to and Transfer among Oklahoma Colleges and Universities of the State System. Students will be admitted in one of the following admission categories.

Note: For admissions purposes, an official transcript is one requested within the past year, has the graduation date labeled and is in a sealed envelope from the school or sent via email from the high school counselor’s office. Official transcripts may only be received and opened by Office of Admissions staff.

Admission of First-Time College Students

Students Seeking Admission to AS, or Baccalaureate Degree Programs

Any individual who:

• is a graduate of a high school accredited by the appropriate regional association or by an appropriate accrediting agency of the home state or has achieved a high school equivalency certificate based on the GED;
• has met the curricular requirements as set forth by the OSRHE policy;
• OSUIT is now ACT/SAT optional, meaning we request ACT/SAT scores; however, they are not required.

Students Seeking Admission to AAS Degree Programs

Any individual who:

• is a graduate of high school accredited by the appropriate regional association or by an appropriate accrediting agency of the home state or has achieved a high school equivalency certificate based on the GED
• OSUIT is now ACT/SAT optional, meaning we request ACT/SAT scores; however, they are not required.

First-Time College Students Requirements

Graduates from an accredited high school are eligible for admission provided they:

• Submit an Application for Admission
• Submit an official High School transcript, and;
• Participate in ACCUplacer (Next Generation) assessment in English, Math, and Reading, if needed.
  • This requirement can be waived if you have...
    • A 2.5 overall High School GPA. OR
    • ACT Score of 19 in English, Reading, and/or Math
• OSUIT is now ACT/SAT optional, meaning we request ACT/SAT scores; however, they are not required.

Non-High School Graduates are eligible for admission provided they are 18 years of age or older and their high school class has graduated and they:

• Submit an Application for Admission
• Submit an official transcripts of previous academic history including GED certificate if taken, and;
  • GED FAQs
  • GED Subject scores of 175 or higher qualify for awarding of college credit

Admission of Transfer Students

A Transfer Student is any undergraduate student with greater than six attempted credit hours, excluding remedial/developmental (zero-level courses) or pre-college work and excluding credit hours accumulated by concurrently enrolled high school students.

Admission by Transfer within the State System

Undergraduate students entering OSUIT by transfer from another State System institution must meet both the high school curricular requirements and academic performance standards of OSUIT and must have a GPA high enough to meet the institution’s retention standards based on at least 24 attempted semester credit hours of regularly graded (A, B, C, D, F) college work.

Admission by Transfer from Non-State System Institutions

Undergraduate students wishing to transfer from non-State System institutions to OSUIT may do so by meeting the entrance requirements of OSUIT; and also meet the following:

• Transcripts of record from colleges and universities accredited by the HLC or other regional associations will be given full value.
• Each nonresident applicant must be in good standing in the institution from which the applicant plans to transfer.
• Transcripts of record from institutions not accredited by a regional association may be accepted in transfer when appropriate to the student’s degree program and when the receiving institution has had an opportunity to validate the courses or programs.

Transfer Student Requirements

Individuals who have enrolled in one or more colleges prior to enrollments at OSUIT must provide the following documentation depending upon the number of hours completed at previous colleges.

Students with fewer than 24 credit hours:

• Submit an Application for Admission
• OSUIT is now ACT/SAT optional, meaning we request ACT/SAT scores; however, they are not required.
• Submit an official High School transcript, and;
• Submit an official college transcript from each college attended;
• Participate in ACCUplacer (Next Generation) assessment in English, Math, and Reading, if needed.
  • This requirement can be waived if you have...
    • A 2.5 overall High School GPA. OR
    • ACT Score of 19 in English, Reading, and/or Math. OR
    • College Credit in an English, Reading, and/or Math class.

Students with 24 or more credit hours:

• Submit an Application
• Submit an official college transcript from each college attended;
• Participate in ACCUplacer (Next Generation) assessment in English, Math, and Reading, if needed.

    • ACT Score of 19 in English, Reading, and/or Math. OR

Special Admissions

Under certain circumstances the institution is allowed to admit students under a special admission category. The OSRHE allow each institution to determine if the student meets one of the following criteria for special admission to the university:

Special Non-Degree Seeking Student

Students who wish to enroll in courses without intending to pursue a degree may be permitted to enroll in no more than nine credit hours without submitting academic credentials or meeting the academic curricular or performance requirements of the institution of desired entry. Retention standards will be enforced. Once a student has completed the designated number of hours, the student is required to meet the formal admission or transfer criteria for the institution of desired entry in order to enroll in additional course work.

Home Study or Non-Recognized Accredited or Unaccredited High Schools

An individual who is a graduate of a private, parochial, or other nonpublic high school which is not accredited by a recognized accrediting agency is eligible for admission as follows:

• OSUIT is now ACT/SAT optional, meaning we request ACT/SAT scores; however, they are not required.
• The student’s high school class of his or her peers must have graduated.
• The student must satisfy the high school curricular requirements for the institution to which the student is applying, as certified by the school or for home study, the parent.
• Participate in ACCUplacer (Next Generation) assessment in English, Math, and Reading, if needed.

    • ACT Score of 19 in English, Reading, and/or Math.  OR
