Counselors provide a safe space where you can talk about what is going on in your
life. You can choose how much or how little you want to share.
All information you share about yourself will be kept confidential. Only with your written permission will information be released to anyone outside of counseling except as required by law. Legal exceptions include the following:
- clear and imminent danger to you or someone else
- reasonable suspicion that a child or elder is currently being abused
- a court order
Each counseling session is usually 30 to 50 minutes. Some students need only one or
two sessions, while others decide to come in regularly for awhile. If issues require
long-term therapy, OSUIT counselors can assist in locating agencies or medical professionals
in the community.

are trained to help you think about alternatives and options that can help you make
better decisions, communicate more effectively, and change unhealthy behaviors.
